Connect Podbrain to Grok Bot

Podbrain comes to Grok Bot as a ready made Bot template with the Podbrain server already set up. Open the template, add it, connect Podbrain once, and your Bot can search about 2,400 podcast episodes and pull professional notes and book references, with a link back to each episode.

Add to Grok Bot

What you need

  • Grok Bot access and the Grok Bot app on the device where you open the link. The template preview opens in any browser, but adding it finishes in the app.
  • On a team or enterprise account, a connector policy that allows https://podbrain.app/mcp. If Podbrain shows as disabled by your admin, ask them to allow it.
  • A Podbrain account, created when you sign in from Grok Bot, and the free trial. The trial needs a card but charges nothing for your first 30 episodes.

Add Podbrain to Grok Bot

  1. Open the Podbrain template

Select Add to Grok Bot above. A preview of the Podbrain Bot opens on x.ai. Read what it does, then select Add to Grok Bot on the preview.

  2. Review it in the app and confirm

The Grok Bot app opens the template for review. Check that it lists the Podbrain connector at https://podbrain.app/mcp, then confirm. The Bot is now on your account.

  3. Connect Podbrain

When the Bot asks to connect Podbrain, choose to connect and finish in your browser. The request may name Cursor rather than Grok Bot. That is expected. There is no key or client ID to fill in.

  4. Ask your first question

Open the Podbrain Bot and ask about a show you follow. The prompt below works on the live catalogue.

Try it

What did Huberman Lab say about sleep and caffeine? Use Podbrain and cite the episode.

The Bot searches the Huberman Lab episodes, reads the notes and answers with a link to the episode page on podbrain.app. Ask "which books came up in that episode?" to get the reading list.

Prefer to set it up by hand

You can also add Podbrain to a Bot you already have. Send it this message and approve what it proposes:

Add this MCP server: https://podbrain.app/mcp

Then connect Podbrain when asked, as in step 3.

Turn it off

Remove the Podbrain Bot, or uninstall the Podbrain connector from your plugins in Grok Bot. Connectors are shared across your Bots, so uninstalling it removes Podbrain from all of them. Podbrain does not have a page for managing connected apps yet.

Questions

Does adding the template give anyone access to my account?

No. Adding a template creates your own copy of the Bot. It does not share anyone's computer, logins or conversations, and your Podbrain connection is yours alone.

Why does the sign in screen mention Cursor?

Grok Bot runs its connectors through Cursor, so the app asking Podbrain for access is Cursor's connector service acting for your Grok Bot account.

The link opened a web page but nothing was added.

Adding finishes in the Grok Bot app. Open the link on a device where the app is installed and signed in, then select Add to Grok Bot again.

Do I need to pay?

Not at first. Every tool needs a signed in Podbrain account, and new users start a free trial that covers the first 30 episodes. After 30 episodes or 30 days, whichever comes first, it continues on Unlimited at $9.99 a month. Cancel anytime.
